ITV Racing Tips for Sunday 10th August – Today’s Betting Tips for the ITV Races

ITV Racing Tips – Saturday 9th August

ITV Racing Tips for Today

The ITV Racing cameras continue to roll on Sunday following their bumper Saturday coverage of the Shergar Cup meeting at Ascot  as well as Haydock and Newmarket. The cameras continue into Sunday with further coverage of Haydock where seven races await punters, while there are also three races live from Leicester. Ed Chamberlain and the team will be on hand again with expert racing tips and analysis and we’ve also picked out our race-by-race ITV Racing tips for Sunday’s live TV coverage.

SUNDAY ITV RACING TIPS – AT-A-GLANCE

3:45 Haydock – HIS FINEST HOUR (11/2) 4:00 Leicester – HALF SOVEREIGN (5/2) 4:15 Haydock – VLAD (7/2) 4:30 Leicester – COEUR JAUNE (6/1) 4:45 Haydock – HARDY’S HERO (5/1) 5:00 Leicester – AMERICAN STYLE (2/1) 5:15 Haydock – CLASSY AL (14/1) 5:45 Haydock – BINT MOHAATHER (4/1) 6:15 Haydock – LEADENHALL (8/1) 6:45 Haydock – STRING OF PEARLS (7/4)

SUNDAY ITV RACING TIPS HAYDOCK & LEICESTER – RACE-BY-RACE PREVIEW

3:45 Haydock – Enter ITV7 For Free Apprentice Handicap (GBBPlus Race) Cl4 (3yo+ 0-85) 1m2½f

HIS FINEST HOUR (11/2) can get back to winning ways. Ian Williams’ charge struck over this trip at Newbury back in July in a race that is working out quite well and the Churchill gelding may have been stretched by the longer trip back at Newbury on his next outing. He found only one too good on softer ground latest at Epsom and he can race off the same mark here, while a return to a quicker surface ought to be in his favour. With just eight starts under his belt he could yet have more to offer and in a winnable race he can make his presence felt.

4:00 Leicester – Teenage Cancer Trust Gallop Of Glory Nursery Handicap Cl4 (2yo 0-85) 7f

HALF SOVEREIGN (5/2) has looked useful in her three starts to date, winning the last twice and Karl Burke’s filly can make it a hat-trick of victories. Following a fair debut at Redcar the Ten Sovereigns filly struck back-to-back wins stepping up to seven furlongs at Ayr and Yarmouth in July and there may be more to come from this steadily progressive youngster now she tackles handicap company for the first time. Both wins did come with some ease in the ground, but quicker conditions didn’t seem to faze her on her debut and an opening mark of 80 will likely prove workable given she’s open to improvement.

4:15 Haydock – Sky Bet Acca Freeze Nursery Handicap Cl4 (2yo 0-85) 6f

This is quite an open race, but VLAD (7/2) could be worth chancing to follow up his breakthrough success at Windsor last month. Simon Crisford’s charge had hit the crossbar on each of his three previous outings, but got off the mark when gaining a short-head verdict over Born Slippy on his handicap debut. That form has been bolstered by the fourth home winning next time and a 3lbs rise for that victory could prove lenient given that the A’ali gelding could have further improvement to come.

4:30 Leicester – Leicester & Rutland Freemasons Fillies’ Handicap Cl5 (3yo+ 0-70) 1m

COEUR JAUNE (6/1) has improved for the step up longer trips in recent starts, proving herself a consistent sort although it did take her eleven attempts to get off the mark. The Mehmas filly accomplished that feat latest when getting the better of We’ve Got This on her first attempt at one mile, scoring by one length where she gave the impression there was still more improvement to come. The handicapper has pushed her up 3lbs for that win which could prove lenient, while she has proven herself on a range of ground conditions so the ground underfoot shouldn’t pose an issue. This is tougher stepping back up in grade, but she ran at this level at Haydock last month and finished a good third there so with the extra furlong in her favour she can post another big effort.

4:45 Haydock – Sky Bet Proud To Support ROR Restricted Maiden Stakes (For horses in Bands A, B, C and D) (GBB Race) Cl4 (2yo) 6f

HARDY’S HERO (5/1) ought to be much more streetwise following his debut at Newbury back in June and the New Bay colt can do much better this time around. William Haggas’ charge finished seventh on that first attempt, running green throughout the race and never getting involved. However, there were definite signs of promise in that performance and he is surely capable of better. The form of that debut is probably nothing special and it has already taken a few knocks. Nevertheless, he can improve for the experience and it would be no surprise to see him involved here.

5:00 Leicester – Aspects Group Handicap Cl4 (3yo 0-85) 6f

AMERICAN STYLE (2/1) takes a drop back in class for this latest assignment and the Washington DC filly could prove a tough nut to crack. Kevin Ryan’s charge made a winning reappearance earlier in the season at Ripon and she has ran with credit in defeat in all her starts since in valuable handicaps at Newmarket and York, including when last seen out last month where she found only Prince Of India too strong having been drawn on the wrong side of the track. Although well beaten it was another solid run and while her mark reflects her consistent efforts she might prove a tough nut to crack in this easier grade.

5:15 Haydock – Sky Bet Extra Places Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-85) 5f

CLASSY AL (14/1) fluffed his lines at the start when failing in a hat-trick bid at Hamilton eight days ago, but Jim Goldie’s charge is given another chance. The Fountain Of Youth gelding had won twice prior, posting victories at Ayr and Hamilton in the space of four days, but he was slowly away and gave up several lengths in his last outing which he couldn’t claw back despite his best efforts. He did run better than the bare result where he finished last of four, doing well to get in contention but having likely used up too much to get in that position he faded and finished around three lengths off the winner. Reunited with Paul Mulrennan, he is worth another chance off the same mark and provided he breaks better this time he can get involved.

5:45 Haydock – Sky Bet Build A Bet Fillies’ Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-85) 7f

Lightly raced BINT MOHAATHER (4/1) ran out a comfortable winner over this trip at Wolverhampton back in June and Jack Channon’s charge ought to appreciate a return to seven furlongs having perhaps just been done for pace back over six furlongs at Doncaster last month. The Mohaather filly has had just three starts in her career so there’s likely more to come from her and she wasn’t beaten all that far into third behind Mystical Storm on her last outing. Having been outpaced she ran on well again late to almost snatch the silver medal and now making her handicap debut she could prove well-treated off this 77 rating given she has the potential for better. A return to further will also help and she’s a big player in this contest.

6:15 Haydock – Sky Bet, For The Fans Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-82) 1m

LEADENHALL (8/1) might prefer slightly softer ground than he’ll get here, but he is a previous course winner and Tim Easterby’s charge can get back on the scoresheet. The Kingman gelding struck here in April on his seasonal debut after which he ran well in defeat to bag bronze medal finishes at Redcar and York. He wasn’t at his best at York when next seen, finishing down the field in an amateur riders’ contest but he bounced back quickly with an an improved effort at Ripon despite finishing only fourth and beaten around five lengths. That form is fair, the winner has since gone close next time while the third won on his next outing and he can compete here off 1lb lower. Dropping back to one mile may prove a positive and providing the quicker ground doesn’t present any inconvenience then he could post a big performance.

6:45 Haydock – Sky Bet Club Handicap (GBBPlus Race) Cl4 (3yo+ 0-85) 2m

STRING OF PEARLS (7/4) is on a hat-trick, showing improved form for a stamina test and this even greater distance can see the Study Of Man filly progress again to land her three-timer. Sir Mark Prescott’s charge benefitted from a step up to twelve furlongs to get off the mark at Goodwood in June and she followed up over an extra quarter-mile at Yarmouth latest when beating Carlton by two lengths. A further step up in trip can unlock more improvement and she can go well in her pursuit of a hat-trick of successes.

About ITV Racing

ITV has a long history with horse racing having first launched ITV Racing way back in 1969. However, following Channel 4 enjoying the rights for some time, it’s only recently relaunched in the last few years with former Sky Sports man Ed Chamberlain heading up the coverage. With hundreds of meets across the year, horse racing on TV has never been better, with a wealth of great pundits analysing all the action and offering their thoughts on how each meet will go.

ITV Racing Pundits

  • Kevin Blake
  • Jason Weaver
  • Luke Harvey
  • AP McCoy
  • Ruby Walsh
  • Oli Bell
  • Matt Chapman
  • Alice Plunkett
  • Brough Scott
  • Ed Chamberlain
  • Francesca Cumani
  • Lucy Verasamy
Some of the ITV Racing pundits tips are better tipsters than others and it is Jason Weaver and Kevin Blake who we’d recommend listening closest to for their tips. Kevin Blake has a very strong knowledge of the Irish horses and works closely with trainer Joseph O’Brien in deciding which races his horses will run in. Jason Weaver is a former jockey and a student of the sport so his knowledge will often find winners during the live TV coverage. Matt Chapman often posts winning selections on his Twitter account and Paddy Power blog but the outspoken pundit does also pick some bad tips. The host of the show, Ed Chamberlain, is also very knowledgeable of the sport and he does have a good record of picking the winners of some of the big races including Tiger Roll in the Grand National and Anthony Van Dyck in the Epsom Derby.

What Channel is ITV Racing On?

The ITV coverage varies from ITV main channel, ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4 so be sure to check your TV listings for all the ITV channels if you are looking for the ITV Racing schedule before reading our best bets.
