1:20 Goodwood – Coral Kincsem Handicap Cl2 (3yo) 1m2f

A competitive opener to day three of Glorious Goodwood and DAIQUIRI BAY (20/1, EW) could outrun big odds for Alan King and David Egan. The New Bay colt has had just four career starts, winning over this trip at  Chester on his seasonal return before being caught close home at Doncaster the following month when beaten only a neck by Regal Ulixes. That rival was thought worthy of a crack at a Group race at Royal Ascot, and he possibly didn’t quite get home over further in the King George V Stakes when last seen, eventually crossing the line in eighth and beaten around seven lengths by Merchant. Despite his finishing position, it wasn’t a bad ru,n and the form has stacked up quite well with the runner-up filling the same position next time in the Irish Derby, while a couple of those who finished behind the selection have both won next time out. A return to this trip could prove a good move, and with plenty of pace in the fiel,d the race could be run to suit. A lightly-raced sort who could have more improvement to come, he could go well at a big price.

1:55 Goodwood – Markel Richmond Stakes (Group 2) (Colts & Geldings) Cl1 (2yo) 6f

The form of EGOLI’s (9/1) win at York in June has been boosted by the third home that day winning here on Tuesday, and Ralph Beckett’s charge added to her own tally next time, taking a decent Newbury novice last month. The No Nay Never colt made all that day, powering to an impressive victory over Song Of The Clyde, and there could be better yet to come from him after just three starts. The bare form of his Newbury win might fall short of a couple of these rivals, but he did the job well in the manner of a horse who has more to offer. He has some solid form in the book from his debut at Leicester behind some useful sorts who haven’t disgraced themselves in Pattern company and he is chanced to make his mark in this higher grade where he can find the requisite improvement to feature at the business end.

2:30 Goodwood – HKJC World Pool Gordon Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (3yo) 1m4f

It might be worth chancing RAHIEBB (11/2) to turn the tables with York conqueror Merchant on these revised terms and Roger Varian’s charge is taken to get back on the scoresheet. The Frankel colt was a debut winner on the all-weather before reeling off a hat-trick of silver medal finishes, including at York when beaten into second by William Haggas’ reopposing rival although he was trying to give 8lbs to the winner, who has gone in again since in the King George V Handicap at Royal Ascot. Upped in trip at Royal Ascot and tried in a Group Two he ran well to finish third behind Carmers, beaten only one length, having made up good ground from the rear, and perhaps he didn’t quite see out the longer trip in that Queen’s Vase renewal. That form has taken a couple of knocks, but the fourth home has since finished runner-up, while the fifth won a Group Three next time so taking a drop back in trip here as well as a slight ease in grade he could be able to reverse York form with Merchant now the pair clash off level weights in this Group Three contest. 3:05 Goodwood – Qatar Nassau Stakes (Group 1) (Fillies & Mares) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m2f

WHIRL (11/8) sets a solid standard, and Aidan O’Brien’s charge can make it three wins for the season. A dual-winner last term, the Wootton Bassett filly was better for her run at the Curragh on comeback to score by a wide margin over Serenity Prayer in the Musidora at York prior to having a crack at the Epsom Oaks, where she found only Minnie Hauk too strong by a neck. That is strong form and it was confirmed when the winner landed the Irish equivalent. Aidan O’Brien’s charge then saw off the challenge of Kalpana when returned to this trip in the Pretty Polly at the Curragh, running out a one-length winner over that one, who also franked the form with a big run at Ascot this past weekend. She showed a good attitude to battle back once headed, having tried to make all and despite bumping the eventual runner-up, she ran out an authorative winner on the day. There’s almost certainly more in her locker still to come, and she may prove a tough nut to crack here under Ryan Moore, who prefers her to the other Ballydoyle representative in Bedtime Stor,y who finished runner-up in the French Oaks when last seen.

3:45 Goodwood – Buccellati Handicap Cl3 (3yo 0-95) 5f

GETREADYTORUMBLE (7/1) arguably threw away a hat-trick of wins when meeting with defeat at Sandown earlier in the month, but Jack Channon’s charge remains a progressive sort who could quickly atone for that reversal. The Rumble Inthejungle gelding has shown himself to be at home on an undulating track, registering wins at Brighton and over C&D this season and having taken up the running at Sandown latest he jumped the path inside the last furlong – an action which robbed him of some momentum and balance and arguably cost him the race. That was a better grade of race than this, and he was beaten just over one length by reopposing Nad Alshiba Green, despite giving that one 4lbs. On these revised terms, he could be capable of reversing that form, returning to this track over which he has proven. Open to further progress and likely to have the race run to suit, he can make his presence felt in an open looking handicap.

4:20 Goodwood – Phase Eight Nursery Handicap Cl2 (2yo) 7f

Progressive SIR ALBERT (9/2) could be the one to side with here, and Andrew Balding’s charge is taken to land a hat-trick of successes. The No Nay Never colt shaped well on his first two starts at Chepstow and Nottingham, showing inexperience both times, but he managed to get his head in front at Newcastle in June when beating Zoiros by a half-length. Stepped up to seven furlongs for his latest outing at Chester, he ran out a comfortable winner over reopposing Champion Island, where he was giving the runner-up 3lbs. While he meets that rival on slightly worse terms now, the impression he gave there suggests there’s further improvement to come and he can confirm the form with Charlie Johnston’s rival. The fourth home at Chester won next time out to give that form a boost, and he’s likely once again to get a strong pace to aim at, which will suit him well. Assuming he handles the undulations here then he ought to go close in pursuit of his three-timer. OFFER – Join CopyBet to get a £20 free bet for our Glorious Goodwood day 2 tips.

4:55 Goodwood – Tatler British EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (GBB/IRE Incentive Race) Cl2 (2yo) 7f

A tricky puzzle to unravel with several debutantes in opposition, but it may pay to side with one who has had the benefit of a previous run and UNCERTAINTY (14/1, EW) could go one better than her debut runner-up at Newbury earlier in the month. Richard Hannon’s runners often come on a bundle for their first run, and there was a lot to like about the Mohaather filly’s performance on debut, where she met with trouble in running when trying to deliver her challenge and needing switched which cost her valuable ground. Once in the clear, she stayed on well for second, and it wouldn’t come as a shock if she were to find significant improvement with that run under her belt. The third has done no harm to the form, finishing runner-up on her next start, and she could post a big performance here on her second run.

5:30 Goodwood – World Pool Bet With The Tote Handicap Cl3 (3yo 0-90) 1m

Another tricky, big field handicap to round off day three of Glorious Goodwood and SEA FORCE (7/1) is a tentative selection to round off the afternoon, where William Haggas’ charge could go well in first-time cheekpieces. The Sea The Stars gelding has looked progressive this term, finishing runner-up twice before getting off the mark at the third attempt when getting a head verdict over Antipodes at Nottingham in June. That winning margin doesn’t tell the whole story as his rider eased him down in the closing stages and almost got collared by the runner-up, who has won since. A slow early pace at Ascot when last seen out won’t have suited him, but he ran well for third behind Knight’s Gold where he was beaten just over a half-length and he could do better here faced with a stronger pace to aim at. The handicapper has left his mark unchanged, and he sports first-time cheekpieces for this latest outin,g which could eke out some further improvement. In an open finale, he looks worth chancing to go close.
