3:45 Hamilton – Enter ITV7 For Free EBF Novice Stakes (GBB Race) Cl2 (2yo) 6f
Just five runners for the ITV Racing opener on Sunday but an intriguing race with a couple of notable newcomers in the line-up from the Richard Fahey and Charlie Johnston camps. Both are respected, especially Johnston’s Vincenzo Perugi,a who hails from a winning family and fetched a big sum at the October sales. However, it is Kevin Ryan’s BIG FUN who gets the vote on the back of a promising debut at Pontefract last month, where the Showcasing gelding found only one too good when beaten just under two lengths, having met some trouble in running. The third home in that race went close here on Wednesday night past, while the fourth and sixth horses home have both made the frame in subsequent outings. He should take plenty of beating here, with the benefit of that experience under his belt, and is likely to build on the run; he can go one better.4:00 Salisbury – Happy 80th Birthday Richard Hannon Snr British EBF Novice Stakes (GBB/IRE Incentive Race) Cl3 (2yo) 6f
Those with the benefit of experience don’t set a particularly high bar despite one of them winning last time out, so it could pay to side with one of the debutantes with the pick of those looking to be ORION’S BELT who represents the Richard Hannon team. One of two in the race for the handler who has won this race twice in the last three years with debutante runners the Starman filly makes plenty of appeal on that basis and she fetched a decent sum at the sales. The choice of Sean Levey from the two Hannon runners she also gets a weight allowance from her rivals and that could prove telling. She could be up to the task of replicating her yard’s recent successes in this race and she can make a winning debut. EDUCATING RITA (EW) could run a big race if coming on for her reappearance effort at Thirsk back in April. Michael Dods’ charge scored a brace of victories last term, one of which came over C&D and she made the frame in each her two subsequent runs in handicaps at Haydock and Beverley, beaten less than one length on each occasion. Down the field on her two final outings at Ayr and Redcar respectively, she can’t be judged too harshly on those runs as both came in Listed company and she shaped as if she needed her reappearance when last seen coming off a near-seven-month absence. That return to action came in a better grade of race than this and she was competitive last term from marks just a couple of pounds below her current rating. She won’t mind softer ground having won on it previously, and a return to six furlongs will suit. If stepping up from her seasonal debut, she could make the frame, and she looks a fair each-way shout in this race dropping in grade.4:30 Salisbury – Darley EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes (GBB Race)Cl2 (3yo+) 1m2f
None of these can be safely ruled out but BINTALINA gets a narrow verdict in a very trappy contest featuring just five runners, all of whom have chances. Roger Varian’s Dubawi filly has looked in need of the experience on both her starts to date, but she did build on the initial promise shown on her debut to chase home Star Of Dubai at Bath last month, beaten just a half-length. She again looked green there, awkward at the start and racing keenly. Briefly outpaced she rallied well but couldn’t quite land a blow on the winner, but it was a sizeable step forward from her debut and she is entitled to improve again for that run. This step up in trip could unlock another chunk of progress and she ought to make her presence felt in an intriguing Salisbury feature.4:45 Hamilton – Sky Bet, For The Fans Handicap (GBBPlus Race) Cl3 (4yo+ 0-88) 1m5f
SAVROLA has benefitted from a stiffer test, showing improved form on her final run of the previous campaign to get off the mark over this trip at Mussleburgh and the Churchill gelding doubled his tally when making a winning reappearance at Thirsk last month. Both the second and third have come out since to win and his latest run saw him beaten less than one length over C&D having tried to make all and perhaps being sent for home sooner than ideal. That form looks fairly solid; the third has won since, while a couple of those who finished further back have subsequently ran well. Dianne Sayer’s charge takes another step up the handicap ladder here from a mark 3lbs higher than last time so he’ll need to find another chunk of progress in this tougher contest. However he faces several rivals out of form, and there could still be more in the locker to come from the lightly-raced six-year-old. Partnered also by Kaiya Fraser who has a near-40% strike-rate from his rides here the pair can give the trainer a first winner at the track.5:00 Salisbury – Mercedes-Benz Of Salisbury Handicap Cl4 (4yo+ 0-78) 7f
BELL SHOT ended a losing streak stretching back eleven months and thirteen starts when beating Count Palatine over slightly further at Beverley last month and now the Dark Angel gelding has rediscovered the winning feeling it might be worth chancing Mick Appleby’s charge to repeat the feat. A largely consistent performer despite racking up his winless sequence, he posted a good performance from the front where he showed an excellent attitude to repel all challengers. The third horse home did little harm to the form next time out when finishing runner-up at Goodwood and a 4lbs rise for that victory looks very winnable given he’s gone close in the past from similar marks. Front-runners often do well at this venue, and with the assistance of Sylvestre De Sousa, he has one of the best pace-setting jockeys in the business aboard. A slight drop in trip is of no real concern and the pair can combine to strike another victory.5:15 Hamilton – Sky Bet Build A Bet Handicap Cl3 (4yo+ 0-95) 5f
No shortage of pace here, and it may pay to side with ORIENTAL PRINCE, who hails from Jim Goldie’s yard and the Orientor gelding arrives in good fettle. Jim Goldie likes to have a winner here, and the four-year old has won three of his last six outings on turf and the all-weather, the latest of which came two starts ago over a longer trip at Haydock and he was denied only by a short-head over C&D last month when unable to sustain his effort. He has won over the minimum trip in the past although each of those has come on the all-weather and he’s yet to score over five furlongs on turf so he has a little more to find off this slightly higher mark turned out again on grass. The form of his last run has been boosted by the fourth horse home who reversed the form with the race-winner when the pair clashed next time. A high draw isn’t ideal, but he does have the assistance of Paul Mulrennan again who has a decent strike-rate here and while he does need to find a little more progress he should be in the frame at the finish. Most of these have been disappointing of late, but that isn’t a comment that can be applied to MARIOENTO who arrives here in good form and George Boughey’s charge should take plenty of beating. The Farhh gelding finished a close third here in May when tried in blinkers and he’s continued his good form in a pair of subsequent runs at Chepstow which saw him resume winning ways when last seen eight days ago where he got the better of Fiddlers Green by the better part of five lengths. That victory can be uprated as he was slowly away from the gates and he hung markedly left late on but had enough of a margin to see out the victory. He is up 8lbs for that win which will demand a little more despite his promising rider’s 7lbs claim offsetting most of that rise, although the manner of the victory last time did hint that there may be more in the locker. Taking on some out-of-form rivals here, he could prove tough to bea,t and he sets the standard on form for a yard in decent form.5:45 Hamilton – Sky Bet Proud To Support ROR Fillies’ Handicap Cl3 (3yo+ 0-90) 1m1f
EPIDAVROS took another forward step when last seen out ten days ago, finishing three lengths third behind Bubbles Wonky over C&D, and it may be worth chancing Katie Scott’s charge to better that effort. The Magna Grecia filly struck twice last term in rain-softened ground, including one over C&D when getting the better of Tilsitt by a half-length and she rounded off her season finishing third at Pontefract off a higher mark than she contests today. She is yet to add to her tally in four starts this term, but she likely needed her reappearance at Southwell before bagging a silver medal at Musselburgh two weeks later. The third home horse in that race reappears here on the back of a win, and Katie Scott’s charge bounced back from a lesser run here last month when probably unsuited by having to make his own running to post her latest in-the-frame effort. The handicapper eases her 1lb for that effort, which sees her competing 2lbs below her Musselburgh mark and with the likely softer ground a positive to her chances, she could be set for another big run assuming a ten-day turnaround from her last run doesn’t come too soon.6:15 Hamilton – Sky Bet Club Handicap Cl4 (4yo+ 0-80) 6f
SIR GARFIELD could be the answer to a tricky sprint handicap and John Quinn’s charge is taken to continue his good spell of form and resume winning ways. The James Garfield gelding has won two of his six starts in 2025, resuming the winning trend at Catterick in May before posting back-to-back runner-up efforts at Ayr and Carlisle. However, he got his head back in front latest when scoring over C&D under this rider when a narrow neck victor over Taygar earlier in the month. That form took a boost when the fourth horse home won next time and there could be some further improvement likely despite having been raised 5lbs by the handicapper for that victory. Softer ground holds no fears though and he’s proven over further so he won’t mind a stamina test should this race turn into one. With many of her rivals coming here on the back of lesser runs last time out she could take advantage and it wouldn’t come as a huge shock where he to strike again ,assuming he can maintain his current good spell of form.6:45 Hamilton – Sky Bet Price Boosts Apprentice Handicap (GBBPlus Race) Cl4 (4yo+ 0-78) 1m3f
SPANISH HUSTLE has a good record here, and while the Pearl Secret gelding hasn’t won for eleven months and seven starts he could end his losing streak in a trappy Sunday Series finale. Jim Goldie’s charge has three wins and two places from six C&D starts, the last of which came from a mark just 2lbs below his current rating when out-pointing Livinthelife and he’s shown up well on all three starts this campaign. Better for the run at Musselburgh on his reappearance he finished just over one length third to Mister Daydream here two starts ago and he posted another solid effort when crossing the line in fourth behind Two Auld Pals over a longer trip latest. He may have spoiled his chance by racing a little too keenly, but he stuck well to his task and was clear of the rest without seriously threatening the winner. Dropped 1lb for that run he has the assistance of top apprentice Kaiya Fraser who boasts a very good record here and when teaming up with Jim Goldie. Softer ground would hold no fears as he’s won on a range of underfoot conditions and he looks set to mount a bold bid to add to his tally, easing back slightly in distance.Bet £10 to get £30 in Royal Ascot Free Bet Offers
