Breeders Cup 2022 Betting Tips & Preview from Keenland

7:00 Keeneland

The first race on ITV is the Juvenile Turf Sprint, a Grade 1 over 5 and a half furlongs. Like all of the races the draw will have a huge part and that is exactly why I favour LOVE REIGNS (7/2) here. She has plenty of gate speed and from stall 2 I’d be hopeful she can bag the rail here which is obviously crucial in a race of this nature. A winner of two of her three career starts, the loss came at Royal Ascot where she was far from disgraced in 4th. She now returns to a track that suits her well as she won here on debut back in April and going round a bend is what she wants. Wesley Ward has won the last three renewals and I think he can add a 4th here.

Next up it’s the turn of the 2 year-old fillies in the Juvenile Fillies Dirt over a mile and a half of furlong. The one for me here is CHOP CHOP (4/1) NB. A winner on her first two starts before finishing an unlucky second in Grace 1 company on just her third career start last time out. That proved she can handle the dirt and I’d expect her to keep on improving. The strong gallop will suit as she’ll be staying on strongly. Trainer Brad Cox has a fantastic record at this meeting and hopefully, that can continue here.

8:20 Keeneland

The 8:20 contest is the the Juvenile Fillies Turf over the mile and half a furlong trip. The one for me is G LAURIE (16/1) EW. A good winner on debut she finished third last time out in a race that would not have suited. She’ll appreciate the stronger pace today and William Buick has to be an eye-catching jockey booking. Trainer Graham Motion has won this contest before so he should know what it takes. It’s also interesting that he opts for first-time blinkers will this filly as he has a strong strike rate when reaching for them. She’s a nice each-way price.

9:00 Keeneland

The 9:00 race is back to the dirt for the Grade 1 Breeders Cup Juvenile over the same trip. I’d expect CAVE ROCK (8/11) to win this pretty decidedly truth be told. A winner of all three career starts including a romp last time out in the American Pharaoh Stakes. Stall 3 looks ideal and he looks clear on form by along way to me.

9:40 Keeneland

The final race on ITV is the Grade 1 Juvenile Turf over the mile. It’s SILVER KNOTT (5/4) NAP for me here. Charlie Appleby always had a strong hand with his juveniles and this year has been no exception. He’s won this race three times including last year with Modern Games and I think he can add a fourth here. The selection was a decent winner when landing the Autumn Stakes last time out at Newmarket and the fast ground here at Keeneland will be right up his street. I expect him to use his potent turn of foot and go on and take this.
