1:50 Newmarket
The first race from Newmarket is a handicap over 1m2f. My selection is NEW LONDON (11/4) NB. A handicap mark of 99 looks lenient to me. He went into the race last time out at Chester as a lively Derby candidate but ran green and didn’t look in love with the track. The winner that day Changingoftheguard ran well enough in the Derby and then backed it up with a victory at Royal Ascot so the form isn’t too bad at all. Back at Newmarket will suit and I like that he’s been freshened up.2:05 York
The first of two races from York is a handicap over 1m4f. I’ll go with STRAWMAN (13/2) here. A decent winner at Redcar two starts back, she then went to Carlisle and was held up off a slow pace. She finished 6th there but was keeping on well to be beaten less than 3L at the line. This long straight at York should suit well and hopefully she gets a strong pace to aim at.2:25 Newmarket
Next up at Newmarket is the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes, a Group 2 over 6f. I really like MAYLANDSEA (2/1) NAP here. I think she brings the strongest piece of form to the table finishing second behind Dramatised at Royal Ascot who looks top class. She was running on well that day so this quick 6f should hold no fears in a race that may prove tactical anyway.2:40 York
The one race from York is the Summer Stakes, a Group 3 over 6f for the fillies and mares. The one for me is BENEFIT (5/1). The least unexposed in the line-up, typical of Clive Cox, she’s certainly a sprinter on an upward curve. She was an impressive winner at Salisbury last time out and I think she can take the step up to Group level in her stride. Favourite Flotus isn’t one to put trust in at short odds.3:00 Newmarket
The 3:00 race is the bet365 trophy, a trappy handicap over 1m6f full of improving sorts. I’ll chance SAM COOKE (18/1) EW here. A horse who is very talented on his day and it’s encouraging that trainer Ralph Beckett has hit form and has started to have several in the winners enclosure over the recent weeks. He ran well enough last time out at York finishing well to finish 6th but only 3l behind the winner. The stiff finish will suit his hold up style and he’s a decent each-way price in a wide open race.3:35 Newmarket
The finale today is the Falmouth Stakes, a Group 1 for the fillies and mares over the mile. I can’t find a bet here. Inspiral is a top notch horse and she’s going to win this before heading to bigger targets in the second half of the flat season. There’s nothing that should be in her league today. Sandrine can chase her home for the forecast.Brand New Bet £10 get £10 Free Bet Offer
