ITV Racing Tips for Friday's Four Races at Newbury

ITV Raicng is double-headed this weekend, starting with four races from Kempton on Friday afternoon. These ITV Racing tips would be perfect for a win lucky 15. The action gets underway at 1.50pm with a Novice Chase and there are only three runners going to post. Our NAP of the day comes in the 2.25pm race and it is currently a 9/2 shot at the time of writing. The 3.00pm race is the Long Distance Hurdle and here we have the eagerly anticipated return of Paisley Park, who was disappointing in the Stayers’ Hurdle when last seen on day 3 of the Cheltenham Festival but is looking to regain his crown in March. This looks a competitive race with quite a few live chances. ITV Racing’s final race on Friday is the 3-mile handicap hurdle and our betting tip is 11/4 at the time of writing. This is another wide-open race but there are plenty of familiar names in the line-up such as Lil Rockerfeller, Dell’ Arca and Coeur De Lion.

1:50 Newbury

The first race live on ITV is a novice Chase over 2m4f. Sadly we only have the three runners here and it’s not the best betting race of the day. However I do think FIDDLERONTHEROOF EVENS NB will win this. Fiddlerontheroof looked in need of the run like a lot of Tizzard horses when finishing a well beaten second on his seasonal debut behind If The Cap Fits. He then managed to leave that run behind when winning a good little race at Exeter last time. He only won that day by a short head but the front two were 33l clear of the remainder. I expect him to improve again and take this.

2:25 Newbury

The 2:25 race is a good little handicap contest over 2m4f. It is a great betting opportunity for punters to get stuck into. The one I like is OLDGRANGEWOOD 9/2 NAP. This horse won this race last year and connections have followed a very similar route to last year by ensuring they got a run into him. OLDGRANGEWOOD ran in the Old Roan Chase last time out finishing 4th, he looked the likely winner at one stage before fitness became an issue late on. That was still a good run and I expect that to put him spot on for this. The form reads well as the Old Roan sixth has managed to win a decent race at Cheltenham since and I think the Skelton charge is bound to go well here. 3:00 Newbury

The feature of the day comes up at 3pm and it’s the Long Distance Hurdle. It’s a great renewal of the race in what looks an option division at the moment. If one could win this well today I can see them going straight to the top of the Stayers Hurdle market. It is great to see Paisley Park back but he has to be on the short side given the concerns around him after his run last time out. McFabulous is on the upgrade but this is a huge step up in class and the price is definitely on the short side. I like THYME HILL 11/2 here for the Phillip Hobbs yard. I rate the Albert Bartlett form from this year’s Festival very highly and we’ve already seen plenty of winners come out the race since NH racing resumed. Thyme Hill will stay all day and I think the ground conditions and galloping track of Newbury will play to his stamina strengths. He is definitely the value play in this for me.

3:35 Newbury

The final race from ITV comes at 3:35 and it’s a handicap hurdle over 3m. We know where we’re at with a lot of the field as they are plenty exposed but it’s one of the more unexposed types that I like here. The one for me is HILL SIXTEEN 11/4. This horse won by a staggering 46l last time out at Ffos Las and he is 10lb well in here. I think he can continue to progress and off a lovely racing weight of 10’4 I expect him to follow up.
